Disclosure Day (2026) is a Sci-Fi Mystery and conspiracy film. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film was released on June 9, 2026, and has a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. The film has already grossed $241 million worldwide (and counting) from a budget of $115 million, and it has received positive reviews. It may not be Spielberg's best film, but it is a story about a world on the brink of nuclear war, where humanity's greatest secret is about to be revealed.

It tells the story of Daniel Kellner, a cybersecurity expert who works at Wardex Corporation, a secret U.S. government contractor. Daniel steals "The Archive" - a collection of documents, videos, and alien technology artifacts that the government has hidden since the Roswell incident. He escapes with his girlfriend, Jane Blankenship, because they are being hunted by Wardex CEO, Noah Scanlon. On the other side, Margaret Fairchild, a weather presenter in Kansas City, has her life turned upside down when a cardinal flies into her home. Suddenly, she can read people's minds, speaks foreign languages fluently, and during a live broadcast she begins speaking in an alien language with eerie clicking sounds. The video goes viral and makes Wardex target her because that language turns out to be an alien language.

It turns out that for decades Wardex has been hiding evidence of the existence of aliens and experimenting on alien captives for technological engineering. Daniel and his team, led by Hugo Wakefield, plan to leak everything to the public. While being pursued, Noah uses an alien device to manipulate Jane's mind to attack Daniel. Daniel, Margaret, and Jane are eventually brought together. They must reveal the truth to the world before Wardex silences them forever. This is the moment when the government must finally admit that we are not alone.

The film received good reviews. Spielberg feels like he is returning to his roots. The film is called a companion piece to Close Encounters and E.T. Spielberg explores the same themes: fear of the unknown, distrust of the government, and the power of empathy. The film's themes are considered relevant. The film tackles government conspiracies, online radicalization, and the question: "If proof of aliens is released tomorrow, will society collapse or unite?" The film also references the Roswell incident and real U.S. military UFO videos.

However, the film is not without criticism. The film is too sentimental and slow at the beginning. Some critics say the script "leads too much into sentimentality" and it takes a full hour to get to the "big reveal". There are also those who felt the film was a "drab and plodding chase". There is an overuse of plot devices. Some twists feel like "convenient escape routes" because they rely on alien powers/alien devices.

Wow, my tiny brain was spinning trying to understand this film. What I imagined was that I would be watching a film about an extraterrestrial threat that would endanger life on Earth. But it turned out not to be. The film is exactly as its title suggests: disclosure - to reveal something. The purpose of this film is to reveal secrets and the truth about life other than on Earth. Honestly, I was confused from the beginning of the film, because I was immediately faced with a huge question mark: what is happening and what has already happened? From the start, my brain felt like it slammed the gas pedal to think, analyze, and guess. So this is not a relaxed film that starts out light and only escalates to the core of the story much later.

This is another brilliant work from Steven Spielberg. It feels like an alien film that stepped off its usual path., where aliens are usually dangerous entities that pose a serious threat to Earth. At first glance, I imagined a film like Independence Day. I only started to get interested and understand the story when the character Margaret appeared with her strange abilities. Along with Daniel, I thought that the two of them were some kind of delegates from the alien race. Then they were already scheduled to activate their abilities to become a 'bridge' when the aliens were ready to invade Earth. That was my initial assumption! It turns out this is simply about secret files that want to be revealed to the world.

There are no flashy, futuristic action scenes with laser guns. The film is filled with chase scenes and attempts to escape. I really praise the cinematography of this film, plus the acting from Colin Firth and Emily Blunt, which is truly Hollywood-class quality. For those of you who love mysteries, especially about extraterrestrials, this film will truly indulge your mind.

Disclosure Day has grossed $241 million worldwide so far, from a budget of $115 million. If you like MinorityReport + E.T. + 70s conspiracy thrillers like The Parallax View, this is a must-watch.

For me this one is 8/10.

Are we alone in the universe? This question has existed for thousands of years. In the past, "aliens" were considered myths and conspiracy theories. But in 2026, this topic has entered Congressional hearings, NASA laboratories, and the world's most advanced telescopes.

Where did all of this begin? It began with cave paintings and the Roswell Incident of 1947. The concept of beings from the sky has existed since ancient times. The Egyptian, Sumerian, and Mayan civilizations have carvings about "gods who descended from the sky." The Ancient Astronaut Theory even links the construction of the Pyramids and the Nazca Lines to the help of extraterrestrial beings.

The modern turning point occurred in 1947 with the Roswell Incident. The U.S. military reported the crash of a "flying saucer" in New Mexico. Although it was later clarified as a weather balloon, this event gave birth to the UFO era and the Area 51 conspiracy theories that are still alive today. The 50s-60s became the golden age of UFO reports. Pilots, police, and even civilians claimed to see strange flying objects. Pop culture also amplified it, through films like E.T. and X-Files.

The government and scientists began to take it seriously using a scientific perspective, and then Project Blue Book and SETI emerged.

1. Project Blue Book 1952-1969: The U.S. Air Force investigated more than 12,000 UFO reports. The result: 90% could be explained. But 6% remained "unidentified." 
2. SETI 1960: The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence was founded. Scientists began scanning the skies with radio telescopes to look for signals from other civilizations. 
3. Voyager 1977: NASA launched the Voyager 1 & 2 probes with the "Golden Record." It contains sounds, music, and images of humans. A message for anyone out there who might find it.

To avoid stigma, the term "UFO" was changed to UAP - Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. In 2017, 3 videos of the "Tic Tac UFO" from U.S. Navy pilots were leaked and officially released by the Pentagon in 2020. Then in 2021, the U.S. Government formed AARO - a special office to investigate UAP and report to Congress.

During 2024 – 2026, all of this became more serious. There have been 4 major developments in the last 2 years:

1. U.S. Congressional Hearing 2023-2024. Former intelligence official David Grusch testified that the U.S. possesses "non-human vehicles" and "non-human biological material." No evidence has been shown to the public yet, but this is the first time the topic has been discussed officially in Congress.
2. NASA Report 2023. An independent NASA panel concluded: "There is no evidence of alien life, but we lack data." Now NASA is using AI and satellites to monitor and collect UAP data scientifically.
3. James Webb Telescope Finds "Clues to Life". In 2024, JWST detected dimethyl sulfide gas in the atmosphere of planet K2-18b, 120 light-years from Earth. On Earth, this gas is only produced by living organisms like phytoplankton. This is not proof of aliens, but it is the strongest biosignature we have ever found.
4. Interstellar Objects. After 'Oumuamua in 2017, in 2025 a new interstellar object named 3I/ATLAS passed through our solar system. Scientists around the world monitored it 24 hours a day because of its unusual shape and speed.

Scientists conclude that they have not found anything yet, but they are getting closer. As of August 2026, there is still no official proof that aliens have visited Earth. But the shift is clear. This used to be a fringe topic. Now it is a topic of science + national security. With the help of AI, the James Webb Telescope, and missions to Europa and Mars, the chances of us finding "signs of life" in the next 10 years are getting bigger. From myths in caves, to military radar, to data from space telescopes. The hunt for aliens is not over. And maybe, the answer will be found in our generation.
