This isn’t just another “cheetahs run fast” nature doc. Bertie flips the myth of the "perfect predator." Because cheetahs are built for speed, not fighting, they’re actually the most vulnerable. It’s heartbreaking and eye-opening. Classic Bertie style. The camera is in the grass with the mother and cubs, and right in the chase with the male coalition. You feel like you’re there. By focusing on a mother protecting her cubs, it stops feeling like a wildlife film and starts feeling like a survival drama. This is emotional storytelling

In my opinion:

This documentary is amazing! The mother cheetah's dedication is truly heartwarming. Her care and protection of her cubs demonstrate the strength and patience of a mother. The interactions between the mother and her cubs are truly heart-melting. The mother cheetah is a great example of how a mother will do anything for her children, even if it means facing danger and hardship. 

Cheetahs Up Close changes how you see cheetahs. They’re not flawless killing machines. They’re mothers, teammates, and survivors who have to work twice as hard. It’s beautiful, family-friendly, and an important reminder of why this species is still threatened.

At 45 minutes it feels too short. Some conflicts with lions/hyenas are only touched on. I wanted more time to sit with these animals. For those who love documentaries, especially about wildlife, I highly recommend Cheetahs Up Close With Bertie Gregory.

For me, this one is 8/10.
