Synopsis:
Panda Plan 2: The Magical Tribe
(2026), which is the sequel to Panda Plan (2024), is still starred by Jackie Chan playing a fictional version of himself. The story begins when Jackie and a
cute baby panda named Hu Hu are on their way to a panda conservation center. On
the way, they are hit by a “sky anomaly” and stray into a mysterious valley
that immediately closes off after they enter. There, they meet a primitive
tribe isolated from the outside world. Because Hu Hu’s appearance — with large
dark circles around his eyes — matches the tribe’s ancestral totem perfectly,
he is regarded as a “sacred creature” sent from the heavens. The problem is,
according to a prophecy on the tribe’s ancient stone slab, Hu Hu must be
escorted to Awe Peak — a mountain that is nearly impossible to climb — by the
“Messenger”. If they fail, disaster will befall the tribe. Jackie, whether he
likes it or not, is considered that Messenger. To protect Hu Hu, Jackie has to
deal with the eccentric tribe members, warrior Qiang Shan who often has
amnesia, and Prince Tu Lu who is still unstable. Jackie gets caught up in an
ancient conflict that will determine the fate of the tribe.
Jackie Chan remains the main
attraction. Even though he’s already elderly, the slapstick action +
interactions with the CGI panda Hu Hu still deliver funny moments. Critics said
the first film Panda Plan (2024) had already become “the lowest point of Jackie
Chan’s career”. However, this sequel is said to be “better than the first” and
managed to achieve decent success in China with earnings of US$37.3 million.
But this film is still only said to be average.
This film stars: Jackie Chen, Ma Li, Qiao Shan, Wang Yinglu and more.
