My Mystery Romance

source: tv.lk21.com
Synopsis:

"My Mystery Romance" (2026) is a rom-com with a touch of mystery directed by Maude van Ehrenkrook, available on Amazon Prime Video

The film tells the story of Cora, who tries to save her family's event business by hosting a mystery dinner. Her first attempt flops, but at the second try, she meets Liam, who helps her and sparks romance. As the game unfolds, things get messy with theft and nasty rumors. Cora must decide if she can trust Liam before everything falls apart.

This film stars: Charli St. Joan, Patrick Johnston, Heather Bayles, Lasure Jones and more.

In my opinion:

The opening's simple with a catchy song, and the camera work hinted at the film's quality 😅. I was slightly intrigued by the funny initial scene, thinking, "Yeah, I know this film's gonna be bad. But at least there's some good humor." So, I gave it a chance, ok!?

The story idea's actually unique and stands out. The concept of hosting a "Murder Mystery" game is pretty brilliant, especially if there's a twist with an actual murder or some scary event. Instead, the game just gets messy over a lost brooch and ring. 'Messy' is even too kind – I'd call it a joke.

"Twin" (2026) is a 1 hour 33 minute thriller directed by Chris Stokes. The story follows Justine, a woman who has just been released from prison after killing someone, and she plans to replace her identical twin sister, Jordyn, to get the perfect life.

The film has been available digitally and on Tubi streaming platform since January 23, 2026.

This film stars: Drew Sidora, Jensen Atwood, Chrissy Stokes and more.

In my opinion:

Nope, I don't quite agree that this is a thriller. To me, it's an intense family drama with elements that don't quite support it as a thriller. I'm convinced this is a low-budget film handled by professional filmmakers. Why? There are several things that are pluses and minuses.

This film stars: Jason Statham, Bodhi Rae BreathnachBill Nighy, Naomi Ackie and more.

In my opinion:

Yeah, if you see Jason Statham as the lead, expect thrilling action scenes. It's a Statham trademark: action, brawls, shootouts, and heroics. The film isn't bad, but I thought, "Ah, Jason Statham, it's always like this, isn't it?".

You know what always happens in romantic drama films? Yes, the ending is predictable. That's why romantic dramas need another 'ingredient' to avoid being monotonous.

In my opinion:

Hmm, haloo Mr. Director, are you sure you didn't mix up the cast? I felt Olga Kurylenko's partner should've been Frank Grillo, not Oliver Trevena. I think there's some real misdirection going on here (haha). And Frank Grillo, oh man... I miss your role as Crossbones in the MCU.

In my opinion:

This is the most beautiful documentary I've ever seen. The visuals and audio are stunning, especially the cinematography. I'm amazed at how they captured these scenes – I can't imagine how they got such precise shots, like following the flight path of a peregrine eagle or capturing a wild fox's movements as it searches for food in the city. Then there's the fallow deer, seemingly invading London, and pigeons casually entering train carriages. This is a feat only professionals can achieve.

In my opinion:

Okay, another romance drama has arrived at my table. This time, it's a teenage romance, and I feel it's not ordinary. I'll have a hard time guessing if this romance is a love triangle. Moreover, it's about friends, even like brothers, who like the same girl. Well, is this an ordinary romance drama? Oh, certainly not.

I've seen posters of The Muppet Show before, but I never got the chance to watch it. But I recognize some of the characters like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Scooter, and Gonzo.

This show star: Katt Williams.

In my opinion:

Katt Williams is one of the best comedians I've ever seen. For this performance, he delivers very clever and bold jokes. He easily makes jokes about Donald Trump, and it's very funny. He's also very caring about others. He reminds us of the importance of mental health and avoiding drugs. Whoever we are, regardless of color, ethnicity, family, or tribe, what's important is taking care of our health.

Kyojo: Reunion

source: tv.lk21.com
Synospis:

"Kyojo: Reunion" (2026) is a Japanese psychological thriller film directed by Isamu Nakae, adapted from Hiroki Nagaoka's novel, "Kyojo".

Set in an elite police academy, the film follows instructors and trainees reunited in extreme conditions, where past secrets, guilt, and unresolved trauma resurface. This film is a continuation of the Kyojo series, known for its cold atmosphere and brutal story. Here, weakness is punished, mistakes are unforgiven, and survival depends on mental strength.

Kyojo: Reunion was released on Netflix on January 1, 2026, as the first part of the Kyojo film project, followed by Kyojo: Requiem in theaters on February 20, 2026.

This film stars: Eiji Akaso, Atsushi Arai, Haruka Fukuhara, Gaku Hamada and more.

In my opinion:

As I guessed, there seems to be a preceding film, as I read some synopses mentioning 'returning to the Police Academy...'. This film takes the POV of instructor Kimichika Kazama. Honestly, I'm unsure about the genre. Some platforms label it 'Crime' and 'Mystery', but what I saw was a depiction of discipline in a Japanese police academy – a tutorial film on becoming a proper Japanese police officer.

Kamen Rider Eins with Girls Remix

This film stars: Reiyo Matsunoto, Hikaru Yamamoto, Angela Mei, Hikari Kabashima, Nene Shida and more.

In my opinion:

HENSHIN!!! Kamen Rider is legendary tokutsatsu. Honestly, I'm quite behind on Kamen Rider films. I only remember Black, RX, RX Robo, RX Bio, Super One, and Kiva. After that, I lost track haha.. (T_T). This time, it seems Kamen Rider is dominated by female characters, and I'm quite unfamiliar with them. Maybe there's a preceding story, as I saw many flashbacks.

The Huntsman

source : en.kinorium.com
Synopsis:

"The Huntsman" (2026) is a psychological thriller film with a runtime of 1 hour 43 minutes, directed by Kyle Kauwika Harris and adapted from Judith Sanders' novel.

The film tells the story of Maxwell Mason, an ICU nurse who voluntarily cares for Lincoln Raider, a comatose patient suspected of murdering six young women. Lincoln's wife, Jolene Raider, believes her husband is innocent, while Detective Darby Albright seeks to uncover the truth before another murder occurs.

"The Huntsman" was released in theaters on February 6, 2026, and is available on VOD on February 10, 2026.

This film stars: Shawn Ashmore, Jessy Schram, Elizabeth Mitchell, Garret Dillahunt and more.

In my opinion:

Honestly, the film really frustrated me. The intro was gripping and sent chills down my spine, showcasing the gruesome murder by The Huntsman. I expected more brutal killings, but as the film progressed, I found it slow-paced and lacking depth. The concept was solid – a mysterious killer, leaving viewers guessing – but it felt like I was just waiting for the tension and reveal.

This Is I

source : lk21.com

Synopsis:

"This Is I" (2026) is a Japanese biographical drama film directed by Yusaku Matsumoto, available on Netflix starting February 10, 2026.

Based on the true story of Ai Haruna, a Japanese transgender icon, the film narrates the journey of Kenji Onishi, a young man aspiring to be an idol but struggling with identity and social pressures.

He meets Dr. Koji Wada, a doctor who helps Kenji understand his true self and supports him through gender reassignment surgery. Their bond grows into a strong connection, forged through shared experiences of isolation and social judgment.

This film stars: Haruki Mochizuki, Tae Kimura, Seiji Chihara, Ataru Nakamura and more.

In my opinion:

If it weren't for this film, I wouldn't have known about Ai Haruna, a Japanese transgender personality with a Wikipedia page. Ai Haruna was the winner of the 2009 Miss International Queen. Honestly, I'm not an LGBTQ+ supporter, but I don't reject their existence either. Everyone has the right to live, and as long as they don't harm others, we shouldn't judge.

Fabian und die mörderische Hochzeit

source : facebook.com

Synopsis:

"Fabian und die mörderische Hochzeit" (2026) is a German crime comedy film directed by Markus Sehr, released on February 6, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video.

The film tells the story of Fabian, a cunning con artist hiding from those he's scammed. He accidentally boards a bus taking him to a wedding at a secluded villa, where he discovers a priceless statue, the Venus von Wildenfeld, worth 6 million euros. However, things get complicated when the statue's owner is found murdered. Fabian poses as a detective, investigating the case while trying to steal the statue.

This film stars: Bastian Pastewka, Nicole Beutler, Anton Dreger, Ercan Durmaz and more.

In my opinion:

German films can definitely hold their own, and this one proves it. The mystery comedy genre is very entertaining here. The visuals and audio are great, cinematography is neat, and the acting is top-notch. The storyline is pretty cut-and-dry, if you ask me. I mean, Fabian's a con artist posing as a detective - the mystery's not exactly going to be brain-twisting, right?
