Synopsis:

"Yoh! Bestie" (2026) is a South African romantic comedy film directed by Johnny Barbuzano and released on February 6, 2026, on Netflix. The film is a continuation of the "Yoh!Christmas" series. The story of Thando, a woman who hasn't had much luck in love but has a very close friendship with Charles.

However, Thando's life changes when Charles returns from a trip with the news that he's getting married. Thando must face the feelings of jealousy and loneliness she's been hiding.

The film received positive reviews for its realistic portrayal of friendship and love, as well as the good acting from the cast, especially Katlego Lebogang who plays Thando.

This film stars: Katlego Lebogang, Moliehi Makobane, Kagiso Modupe, Fikile Mthwalo and more.

In my opinion:

I really enjoy romantic comedies, and I've seen many with similar concepts. Maybe you can name a few - like two strangers who meet by chance and fall in love, or long-time friends who keep secret feelings for each other, or even two people who start off hating each other but end up together. With so many similar concepts, there needs to be something that sets it apart. After all, we pretty much know how it ends, right?

In this film, you can guess the ending from the start - Thando and Charles are clearly meant to be together. It's up to the director to make the film engaging and prevent it from feeling flat. I praise the supporting cast, who really made me laugh with their antics. As for the leads,"well... I knew where it was going, and it felt a bit predictable." That's probably what I'd say if you asked.

Of the three elements - visual, audio, and cinematography - I think the audio stands out, especially the traditional South African music. But, the film also showcases the beautiful landscapes of South Africa, making it more appealing.

It's a great film for a date night, I think

For me this one is 7/10.
