Synopsis:

"Twisted" (2026) is a psychological thriller directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW). The story follows two women who engage in a property scam in New York, but everything changes when they meet a brain tissue specialist, the apartment owner, who has a dark secret

Some critics have praised the film's direction, acting, tense atmosphere, and unpredictable story. However, others have felt that the film is slow-paced, lacking in action or violence, and not particularly frightening.

This film stars: Djimon Hounsou, Lauren LaVera, Alicia Witt, Neal McDonough and more.

In my opinion:

I've watched many films with slow-paced stories (mostly horror and thriller), and in my opinion, the intention is to allow the audience to grasp the storyline. However, this slow pace can sometimes backfire, causing audiences to become bored or even sleepy.

This film serves as a good example. It has a well-balanced pace, neither too fast nor too slow. The story builds up tension as it progresses, keeping me engaged throughout.

This is supported by factors such as good visuals and audio, and neat cinematography. The casting of Djimon Hounsou as the mad doctor is impressive, and Lauren LaVera (Terrifier 2 & 3), a modern thriller icon, delivers an expressive and dramatic performance.

As for drawbacks, I felt that the police investigation could have been more challenging, with more significant obstacles to overcome. However, the film's ending provided a surprising twist that left me stunned.

For me this one is 8/10.
