Synopsis:

"Fabian und die mörderische Hochzeit" (2026) is a German crime comedy film directed by Markus Sehr, released on February 6, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video.

The film tells the story of Fabian, a cunning con artist hiding from those he's scammed. He accidentally boards a bus taking him to a wedding at a secluded villa, where he discovers a priceless statue, the Venus von Wildenfeld, worth 6 million euros. However, things get complicated when the statue's owner is found murdered. Fabian poses as a detective, investigating the case while trying to steal the statue.

This film stars: Bastian Pastewka, Nicole Beutler, Anton Dreger, Ercan Durmaz and more.

In my opinion:

German films can definitely hold their own, and this one proves it. The mystery comedy genre is very entertaining here. The visuals and audio are great, cinematography is neat, and the acting is top-notch. The storyline is pretty cut-and-dry, if you ask me. I mean, Fabian's a con artist posing as a detective - the mystery's not exactly going to be brain-twisting, right?

Fabian's character overshadows the rest, leaving supporting characters underdeveloped. Bastian Pastewka's comedic timing and charisma are undeniably the film's highlight, though.Just remember, it's a comedy with a mystery twist, so don't take it too seriously. Some critics gave it positive reviews, but I agree it's a bit clichéd and not super innovative.

For me this one is 7.5/10.
