Exit 8 (2025) Review: Stuck In An Endless Subway. Find The Exit, Or Become Part Of It

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Exit 8 (2025) is a Japanese psychological horror-mystery film directed by Genki Kawamura (producer of Your Name). An adaptation of the 2023 viral game The Exit 8 by Kotake Create. Released in Japan on August 29, 2025, with a runtime of 95 minutes. An unnamed man is trapped in an endless underground subway corridor in a Tokyo station. His goal is only one: to get out through "Exit 8".

The rules are simple but maddening: Pay close attention, if you find an anomaly then turn back, and if there is no anomaly then keep walking. This has to be done several times until you reach exit number 8. If you make a mistake, start from 0. There are no monsters, no chases, only a sterile corridor, neon lights, posters, and a paranoia that keeps piling up. Gradually the anomalies start to connect to his own life and personal trauma.

Critics praised the concept and its execution. Genki Kawamura successfully made us join in observing that corridor and spotting the anomalies. At the 2025 Cannes Premiere, the film received an 8-minute standing ovation. Japanese box office ¥5.2 billion / $44 million. Critics ranked it at #21 for the best video game film of all time. The only minor criticism of its shortcomings is that the film has very little story. So if you need a complex plot, this is not the film you’re looking for.

This film stars: Kazunari Ninomiya, Nana Komatsu, Naru Asanuma, Yamato Kochi.

Over Your Dead Body (2026) Review: Love, Murder, And Theater. She’d Kill For The Role

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Over Your Dead Body (2026) is an English-language remake of the 2021 Norwegian film, The Trip. Directed by Jorma Taccone (of The Lonely Island), it was released in U.S. theaters on April 24, 2026, with a runtime of 105 minutes. It tells the story of a dysfunctional married couple, Dan and Lisa, who go to a remote cabin to “fix” their marriage. Secretly, both of them have plans to kill each other. Dan has already prepared duct tape, chloroform, and a saw. Lisa is no less crazy; she even brought a taser to incapacitate Dan. Their plans fall apart when a group of dangerous criminals suddenly shows up at the cabin. What started as mutual murder attempts turns into them having to work together to survive the intruders. This is Mr. & Mrs. Smith but as a crazier and darker splatstick version.

Critics praised the chemistry between Jason Segel and Samara Weaving as the main draw. Many said their comedic timing and reactions were spot on. The inventive practical gore and dark humor hit the mark if you like sadistic comedy delivered through adrenaline and absurdity. The film won the HEADLINER Audience Award at SXSW 2026. The audience score is 78% versus the critics’ score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, according to critics, the downside is the inconsistent story. The setup starts out clever and funny, but once it hits the second act it becomes too brutal and loses the balance between romantic comedy and thriller, making the film feel “messy.” Some controversial scenes are considered too long and ruin the film’s vibe. Critics judged that the Norwegian version, The Trip, captured the essence of the story more successfully.

This film stars: Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis and more.

Anaconda (2025) Review: They Went Hunting For Footage, The Jungle Hunted Them First

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Anaconda (2025) is not a straight remake of the 1997 film. Anaconda 2025 is a meta-reboot comedy directed by Tom Gormican (director of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) and was released on December 25, 2025, with a runtime of 96 minutes. It tells the story of four childhood friends who feel stuck in midlife: Doug, Griff, Kenny, and Claire. Griff, an actor who is struggling to find work, claims to have obtained the rights to remake their favorite film: Anaconda 1997. They pool their money and go to the Amazon in Brazil to make a low-budget indie version. There they meet Ana, who claims to be the daughter of a boat operator, and Carlos Santiago, a snake handler. During filming, the real snake gets loose and they end up being attacked by a massive, real anaconda. It turns out Ana is an illegal gold miner on the run from the police.

The film becomes a mess: conflict between friends, Griff’s lie about the film rights, plus a wild anaconda roaming around. This is a self-aware comedy, not pure horror. The producers said the film was intentionally made to be funny, not scary. The chemistry between Jack Black and Paul Rudd is the main highlight. Their scenes trading jokes feel natural and improvised. However, critics say the film is inconsistent. It starts out funny and self-aware, but eventually becomes serious and loses momentum. Many say it’s “boring and not funny.”

This film stars: Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton and more.

Mo Gilligan: In the Moment (2026) Review: No Script. No Filter. Just Mo Gilligan Roasting Life As It Happens

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Mo Gilligan: In the Moment (2026), this is Mo Gilligan’s third Netflix stand-up special, recorded live at London’s O2 Arena. It premiered on 3 February 2026. Mo takes on Hollywood and lives to tell the tale. He discusses his experience of suddenly becoming famous, going from working in retail to becoming a well-known comedian. He talks about many things, ranging from the culture clash when he returns to his ancestral hometown, his great-grandmother’s panic at not being able to figure out her own age, absurd experiences at the airport, and the crazy story about a “coffin of champagne” at a club in Hollywood.

The overall tone is lightly positive and suited for casual entertainment. Mo’s energy and storytelling make his jokes flow between personal reflection and cultural commentary. DM Talkies called it “absolute pandemonium” and said the build-up to the punchline was brilliant. The use of lighting at the O2 Arena is also impressive, and even when watching on a small screen it still feels great. However, its aggregate ratings are just average: 56% on KinoCheck, 6/10 on Canadian Reviews, and 6.0/10 on TMDB. So it’s not a mind-blowing special, but it’s enjoyable. There are no big twists, and if you’ve already watched Momentum and There’s Mo to Life, the material will feel familiar.

If you like Mo Gilligan from The Lateish Show or his two previous specials, this is worth it. 7.5/10 for fans. If you’re new to Mo, start with Momentum first to appreciate the development of his material.

In my opinion:

I don’t watch much stand-up comedy, only a few that I know. I admit this is the first time I’ve watched Mo Gilligan, and oh my God, his jokes are so smart and funny. You know, it becomes great comedy when the material comes from his own personal experiences. Mo delivers it really well—his British accent, pacing, and emphasis are spot on. There’s not much else I can say except that it’s an outstanding performance.

For me this one is 7.5/10.

Missing the Boat (2026) Review: They Missed The Cruise Ship, Each Had Their Own Plan, Then They Found Each Other

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Missing the Boat (2026) is a comedy-drama film that premiered on January 31, 2026, on the Hallmark Channel and directed by Maclain Nelson. It tells the story of two strangers, Kelly and Parker, who meet on a cruise around Italy. When they disembark at one of the ports, they return late and miss the ship. Imagine every cruiser’s worst nightmare—suddenly becoming reality. With no other choice, they have to work together to chase the ship to the next port by crossing southern Italy. Throughout that chaotic journey, there are plenty of hilarious mishaps: Parker injures his back, deals with a bad car rental, gets caught in a train strike, and even leaves his passport behind. At its core, the film is about unexpected connection, second chances, and how losing control can sometimes steer life in a better direction.

Critics praised the strong chemistry between the leads—Emilie and Kristoffer—who had previously starred together in Heart of Christmas (2016). Their pace is fast, natural, and funny. Many said it feels like watching the freshest Hallmark romantic comedy of the year. We’re taken on a visual tour of southern Italy. It’s perfect for those who enjoy drama films with beautiful settings. The story is light, focusing on the adventure and the development of the relationship between the two main characters, making it ideal for casual viewing. The humor leans heavily on cringe dad jokes, but that’s very much the Hallmark style, right? Reviews from several critics rate it around 7.5/10. It’s said to be worth watching if you need light entertainment with a sweet ending.

This film stars: Emilie Ullerup, Kristoffer Polaha, Amy Pemberton, Trey Warner and more.

Lee Cronin’s: The Mummy (2026) Review: They Woke Something Ancient And It Remembers Every Name Wrapped In Bandages

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Lee Cronin’s: The Mummy (2026) is a horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin, the director of Evil Dead Rise. This is not a remake of Brendan Fraser’s 1999 version of The Mummy, but rather something new, fresh, and unrelated to the mummy films that have come before. Journalist Charlie Cannon and his wife Larissa live in Cairo with their children Katie and Sebastian. When Katie is 8 years old, she is kidnapped in the yard of their house by a mysterious woman who uses black magic. 8 years later, the Cannon family has moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and has one more child named Maud.

Suddenly Katie is found alive in the wreckage of a plane in Aswan, Egypt, inside a 3000-year-old sarcophagus. Problems arise; Katie comes home in a severely disabled, catatonic, half-mummified state. Her parents are happy, but they quickly realize this is not the Katie they once knew. She becomes aggressive, crawls on the walls, turns feral, and brings an ancient curse that threatens the entire family. Detective Dalia Zaki, who never gave up searching for Katie for 8 years, joins in investigating what actually happened. This is a possession film in the vein of Evil Dead Rise, but with a mummy. The setting is more focused on a family in New Mexico rather than the pyramids of Egypt.

Critics say this is the scariest version of the mummy in years. Cronin is considered successful in building tension into pure fear. The film is judged to care more about the dynamics of a broken family being forced to come together again, similar to Evil Dead Rise. However, critics also feel there are shortcomings, especially a shallow, repetitive story, weak script, and an experience that makes watching tiring. Roger Ebert said the film becomes monotonous because it focuses too much on torturing the audience. The critic score is low: Rotten Tomatoes 46%. Bollywood Hungama gave it 2/5, saying the premise is good but the execution is disappointing.

Mortal Kombat II (2026) Review: The Tournament Returns And This Time, Earth’s Fate Is On The Line

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Mortal Kombat II (2026) is an adaptation of the famous game with the same title. The film was released in theaters in May 2026 and directed by Simon McQuoid. It’s a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat 2021 that finally focuses on the Mortal Kombat tournament. Earthrealm has lost 9 times in a row against Outworld. If they lose one more time, Earth will belong to Outworld and emperor Shao Kahn. Johnny Cage is introduced as the new champion—a 90s action movie star who has now faded. Raiden and Sonya Blade force him to join the tournament. At first he refuses, but he eventually agrees after seeing how important this tournament is for all the realms involved.

Critics say this film is much more like the game. It’s R-rated, bloody, and has a lot of cool fight choreography. Rotten Tomatoes score summary: 65%. On Metacritic: mixed, with an average of 3/5 from user critic reviews. Fans mostly gave it 8-10/10 and left comments like: “Great fights and fatalities that meet expectations,” “Feels like being taken back to my childhood.” It was also reported that the film surpassed the total earnings of the first film within 10 days.

This film stars: Adeline Rudolph, Karl Urban, Martyn Ford, Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim and more.

In my opinion:

Another highly anticipated film, Mortal Kombat II. This film is true fan service—what else are people waiting for besides the brutality and fatalities? Compared to the earlier Mortal Kombat films (1995 & 1997), I think the story in this one is slightly twisted. Not in terms of the core story, which is a tournament wagering each world’s fate, but what’s surprising in this film is the characters. Little bit spoiler: I’ll say that the main role in this film belongs to Kitana, not Liu Kang.

The Punisher: One Last Kill (2026) Review: He Swore He Was Done, But Justice Demanded One More Bullet

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

The Punisher: One Last Kill (2026) is a 45-48 minute Marvel Special Presentation released on May 12, 2026 on Disney+, written and directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. After killing 4 members of the Gnucci family, Frank Castle tries to live quietly in New York. But Ma Gnucci places a bounty on Frank’s head. Now every criminal is hunting Frank to claim the reward. Frank, who initially wanted to stop killing, is pulled back into violence as PTSD trauma and hallucinations of his dead family haunt him. The plot is similar to John Wick 3: Frank becomes a fugitive and has to fight brutally to survive. Along the way, he meets a little girl who makes him start thinking about a new purpose—protecting other people’s families instead of just seeking revenge. The story was intentionally made self-contained and doesn’t connect much to the larger MCU, though it sets up Frank’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July 2026.

Critics say that Jon Bernthal is the best Frank Castle. Bernthal co-wrote the script, so the character feels personal and emotional. His acting is raw, full of pain, but still terrifying when he becomes the Punisher. However, some say the opening is slow, showing more of a depressed and hallucinating Frank. For fans who want immediate action, this feels too drawn out. The film received good scores. Rotten Tomatoes: 84% critics, 96% audience. On another RT version, it’s 76% critics, 87% audience. IMDb has a high rating, with many 9/10 and 10/10 scores from fans.

This film stars: Jon Bernthal, Judith Light, Deborah Ann Woll, Andre Royo and more.

In my opinion:

Terri Joe: Missionary in Miami (2026) Review: He Came To Save Souls, Miami Had Other Plans For Him

source: tv.lk21

Synopsis:

Terri Joe: Missionary in Miami (2026) is a 1 hour 22 minute comedy film produced by Tubi Original, directed by Dale S. Lewis and released on January 30, 2026. It is adapted from Kelon Campbell’s viral TikTok character. This is a wild comedy film about Terri Joe, a girl who flees to Miami to escape eccentric criminals and find a new church where she can atone for her sins. The story begins when Terri Joe works at a grocery store in Louisiana. After she accidentally causes the police to arrest some robbers, the criminals end up chasing her instead. She flees to Miami and stays with her cousin, Jeorgia Peach. In Miami, her rigid worldview immediately clashes with a super free, funky, and party-like environment. While on the run from the criminals, Terri Joe experiences a crisis of faith and has to confront the contradictions in her own beliefs.

The film is described as Gen Z satirical humor that is extreme in calling out issues of racism, homophobia, and sexism. The character of Terri Joe was intentionally created as a parody of a passive-aggressive conservative Christian woman. So the goal is not to support that viewpoint, but to parody it.

This film stars: Kelon Campbell, Katie Keene, Chase Garland, Dylan Bougis and more.

In my opinion:

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026) Review: She’s Back In The Office And Fashion’s Deadliest Game Just Got Crueler

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026) is a comedy drama with a runtime of 1 hour 59 minutes and was released on May 1, 2026. The film is a sequel to the same title and is directed by David Frankel. 20 years after the first film, the world of Runway Magazine has changed completely. Miranda Priestly is still a fashion icon, but her career is wobbling. Runway, which used to dominate in print, is now forced to move to digital: podcasts, newsletters, TikTok, all for ads and survival. Andy Sachs is now a famous journalist in New York, at Vanguard. But at an awards ceremony, her entire editorial team is laid off via text message.

Because she went viral after a speech about press freedom, Runway owner Irv Ravitz recruits Andy as features editor without Miranda’s permission. Andy returns to Miranda’s orbit, this time to save Runway’s reputation. On the other hand, Emily Charlton is now working for Dior US and has her own agenda. The film tackles the theme of the decline of traditional magazines, AI, social media, and media consolidation that makes Runway no longer as influential as before.

Critics praised the chemistry between Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, all of whom have not lost their characters like in the first film. Miranda still has authority, but now she is more tired and human. Critics say the plot feels familiar, the story structure adapts beats from the first film. The middle act is a bit slow, and some conflicts are resolved too easily.

This film stars: Meryl StreepAnne HathawayEmily Blunt, Stanley TucciSimone Ashley and more.

Apex (2026) Review: She Went To The Woods To Heal From Loss, But A Psychopath Was Waiting At The Summit

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Apex (2026) is an action thriller film with a runtime of 1 hour 35 minutes, directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The film was released on Netflix on April 24, 2026. Sasha is an extreme sports athlete skilled at rock climbing. After experiencing a tragedy in Norway that killed her boyfriend Tommy, Sasha is haunted by guilt. She goes to Wandarra National Park, Australia for solo kayaking on rapids, as a way to test her limits and find peace. There, she is warned by a local ranger that many people have gone missing on that route. Sasha meets Ben, a local adventurer who is initially friendly and helpful. But it turns out Ben is a deranged hunter who makes humans his prey. He challenges Sasha to a deadly chase game in the wilderness. What started as a healing journey turns into a fight for survival. Sasha must shed her "civilized" side and rely on survival instincts that are strikingly similar to her past mistakes.

Critics praised Charlize Theron’s strong performance as Sasha, who is athletic, tough, and resilient. Then Taron Egerton as Ben, the frightening yet charismatic villain. Baltasar Kormákur’s direction strengthens the survival elements. The scenes of rock climbing, waterfalls, and rapids feel real and intense. This is a 95-minute film without much filler.

This film stars: Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, Eric Bana and more.

In my opinion:

Nature is not evil, humans are. Nature works according to its nature, but humans are the ones who disturb it. That’s what I took from this film: in the wilderness, where I’m sure there are dangerous wild animals, deadly terrain, extreme conditions, if we obey the rules of nature then we will be fine. But if humans, they do not care about place and condition, if their evil side emerges, then it will be very dangerous. So I can conclude, the meaning of Apex here is human hunter.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) Review: Mario Launches Into Space And The Galaxy Will Never Be The Same

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) is an Animation in the adventure fantasy genre with a runtime of 98 minutes and was released on April 3, 2026. After successfully thwarting Bowser’s plan to marry Princess Peach in the first film, Mario and Luigi now face a new threat: Bowser Jr., Bowser’s son. He is determined to free his father from captivity and restore the Koopa family’s glory. Along with old and new friends, the two brothers must journey across the stars to stop the young heir’s mission. This film takes its setting and references from Super Mario Galaxy, so you’ll see new things like characters, planets, and iconic items.

Fans reacted positively. The film is considered to have taken the Mario franchise to a new level with a fresh space adventure. This sequel raises the scale of the adventure, not only funny and lighthearted, but also visually a feast for the eyes

This film stars: Chris Pratt, Anya-Taylor Joy, Brie Larson, Jack Black and more.

In my opinion:

Mmm… how do I put this? For a film I’ve been waiting for, this sequel didn’t impress me that much. I felt the story moved too fast, I felt the ‘finding each other’ moments were too easy. For example, where Bowser Jr. finds Bowser, or where the Starfox ship is found and just chased by Bowser Jr., and there are still a few more. On the other hand, there’s something that doesn’t quite fit or make sense. Like, is there oxygen in outer space?? Because when Mario’s team boards the Starfox ship, it’s as if they’re riding a car without a roof. Their hair is blowing and they breathe normally, hey, this is outer space, right? Then in the post credit scene, after Starfox fixes his ship and is ready for takeoff, when he sits in the cockpit, there’s a canopy that closes, just like a spaceship (which, where this makes sense for a spaceship, right?).

Hive (2026) Review: An Ancient Being Woke Up In A Small Town And It Was Never Meant To Sleep

source: tv.lk21
Synopsis:

Hive (2026) is a 91-minute mystery horror film directed by Felipe Vargas. The film was released on April 17, 2026, on Tubi. It tells the story of Sasha, an anxious and perfectionist teenager, who gets a routine babysitting job. While watching the child in her care at a playground, the child suddenly disappears. What makes it scary is that the other children at the playground also start behaving strangely. Sasha’s world slowly falls apart and reality begins to unravel. Nothing can be trusted and danger lurks. She must get out of this "psychological maze" with a clear head, while figuring out what is real and what isn’t, before the situation completely spirals out of control. This film is adapted from a short film with the same title by Felipe Vargas.

Critics say the final result “isn’t very good”. The story feels very small and the pacing doesn’t flow well. The story idea is good, but the execution of the full-length film still needs refining. This film leans more toward psychological supernatural horror than jump scares or violence.

This film stars: Xochitl Gomez, Aaron Dominguez, Zenobia Kloppers, Victoria Firsova and more.

In my opinion:

I swear, I thought this was an adventure comedy film. Because the poster shows Xochitl Gomez posing like DoraThe Explorer. Turns out this is a mystery horror film, haha, or maybe there are several posters and I got one that was misleading like that. By the way, in my opinion Xochitl isn’t really suited for horror or thriller films. I think she’s better suited for fantasy adventure films with a touch of comedy. Because, like I said, she’s like Dora The Explorer, hehe.

They Will Kill You (2026) Review: She Searched For Her Kidnapped Sister And Found Her In A Devil Cult

source: tv.lk21

Synopsis:

They Will Kill You (2026) is an Action Comedy Horror film with a runtime of 94 minutes, directed by Kirill Sokolov. After being released from prison, Asia Reaves needs a job quickly. She finds an ad for a maid position in a luxurious skyscraper called "The Virgil" in New York City. At first, it looks normal. But gradually Asia realizes that all the housekeepers before her disappeared without a trace. It turns out the building is a lair for a demonic cult that needs victims for rituals. Asia is trapped and must survive an entire night so she doesn’t become their next offering. This cult has strange rules, eccentric members, and she has to fight them by any means necessary. The film becomes a blend of blood-soaked, high-octane horror-action-comedy with many creative kills and dark humor.

This film stars: Zazie Beetz, Heather Graham, Patricia Arquette, Tom Felton and more.

In my opinion:

Actually, the story is a bit messy, but this film is exciting because of its brutal action. I’m a fan of sadistic thrillers, the gore ones, so this film is enjoyable for me. I think the story idea is very unique, like a mix of John Wick and Ready or Not but at a different level. The reason I call it a bit messy is that the film’s pace is made quite fast, yet all of that can be enjoyable because of the brutal scenes that trigger adrenaline.
