Synopsis:
They Will Kill You (2026) is an Action Comedy Horror film with a runtime of 94 minutes, directed by Kirill Sokolov. After being released from prison, Asia Reaves needs a job quickly. She finds an ad for a maid position in a luxurious skyscraper called "The Virgil" in New York City. At first, it looks normal. But gradually Asia realizes that all the housekeepers before her disappeared without a trace. It turns out the building is a lair for a demonic cult that needs victims for rituals. Asia is trapped and must survive an entire night so she doesn’t become their next offering. This cult has strange rules, eccentric members, and she has to fight them by any means necessary. The film becomes a blend of blood-soaked, high-octane horror-action-comedy with many creative kills and dark humor.
This film stars: Zazie Beetz, Heather Graham, Patricia Arquette, Tom Felton and more.
In my opinion:
Actually, the story is a bit messy, but this film is exciting because of its brutal action. I’m a fan of sadistic thrillers, the gore ones, so this film is enjoyable for me. I think the story idea is very unique, like a mix of John Wick and Ready or Not but at a different level. The reason I call it a bit messy is that the film’s pace is made quite fast, yet all of that can be enjoyable because of the brutal scenes that trigger adrenaline.
Zazie Beetz is cast as the main
character, even though in supporting roles there are big names like Patricia
Arquette, Heather Graham, and Tom Felton. But that’s not a problem. Zazie, who
previously played Domino in Deadpool 2, is very fitting for the role of an
unstoppable bad-ass woman. Not only tense, but this film is also given comedic
elements, as if to balance out the many blood-soaked scenes.
The visuals and audio are good,
but what’s unique is the cinematography. The unusual camera work makes us feel
like we’re immersed in the action scenes. This is one of the unique aspects and
what sets it apart from other sadistic films. Unfortunately, it’s reported that
the film, which had a $20 million budget, only grossed $19 million worldwide. I
happened to see this film screening in theaters, and I’m sure there were a lot of
cuts there. The bottom line is, this is a very good film for lovers of brutal
action, but you probably shouldn’t watch it while eating something, hehe.
For me this one is 7.5/10.
