WWE Backlash

The first WWE PPV after WrestleMania has been held, WWE presents Backlash. This event was held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the International Arena Tampa, Florida USA. This is the 21st Backlash in WWE history. Currently, it is the second reign of Roman Reigns as one of WWE’s champions, this time he will face another descendant of Samoan blood, The Samoan Werewolf Jacob Fatu. Jacob does not only want that championship belt, but he needs it.

Seth Rollins is still burning with anger over the betrayal of Paul Heyman and The Vision that he himself created. But this time Bron Breakker has returned to the front lines and is ready to split Seth in two.

Before Backlash, Sami Zayn was made stressed by the ridiculous funeral for the Gingerbread Man that was requested by Trick Williams. At Backlash, Sami truly wants to stop all this nonsense and reclaim the US Championship from Trick’s hands.

The student finally goes one-on-one with the mentor, Iyo Sky vs Asuka is not just about a fight for pride, but for Iyo this is a match to bring Asuka back to the right path, which is as family to Iyo. There are rumors saying that this is Asuka’s final match, considering Kairi Sane already left WWE earlier.

The most unique in WWE history, Danhausen has finally found his tag team partner to face The Miz and Kit Wilson. Danhausen moved from AEW to WWE as an entertaining gimmick. With his signature, “YOU ARE.. CURSED!!”, Danhausen tries to prove that he deserves to be part of the WWE family.

John Cena returns to the WWE arena and this time not for a match, but he will announce something big, what is it? Don’t miss WWE PPV Backlash, where a new future for WWE has begun.

In my opinion:

I have been following WWE since a long time ago, when the Attitude Era was called the best era so far. Honestly, I feel WWE is a bit “softer” now, not like the old days that were truly intense. Even this Backlash event didn’t really impress me. There was no element of surprise and it felt like watching RAW or SmackDown Live every week.

Maybe what’s interesting for me is the moment Danhausen and his tag team partner faced The Miz and Kit Wilson. Because this was pure funny entertainment and answered that Danhausen is not only skilled at his silly gimmicks, but he can also wrestle well. Other than that, for me it was just an ordinary match, even the main event was average. Maybe what was impressive was only the performance and endurance of Jacob Fatu in taking the assault from The Tribal Chief. Jacob can be a bright future for WWE, yeah, as long as he isn’t suddenly released too.
