"The Wrecking Crew" (2026) is a 2-hour 2-minute action-comedy film directed by Angel Manuel Soto and available on Prime. It tells the story of James Hale and Jonny Hale, two half-brothers forced to reunite after their father, Walter Hale, dies under mysterious circumstances. They must uncover the truth behind his death, leading them into a large conspiracy involving a casino development on Hawaiian ancestral land.
Reviews for the film are
generally positive, with many critics praising the chemistry between Momoa and
Bautista. They successfully blend action, comedy, and family drama elements. However,
some critics note that the plot is somewhat simple and predictable.
This film stars: Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Jacob Batalon, Morena Baccarin, Roimata Fox and more.
In my opinion:
Yuhuu aloha... I got a good film. The combination of Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista is awesome. This is an action-comedy film, I think. Jason Momoa is currently known for his quirky humor. With these two great actors (plus Morena Baccarin and Jacob Batalon), this is definitely not a low-budget film. The visuals and audio are good, and the cinematography is great. The film met my expectations - action, humor, and a cool story.
Despite its strengths, the film has some drawbacks. When I heard Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, I expected more brutal heroic scenes. However, it felt a bit lacking. Their charisma would be awesome in an intense battle. The film involves the Yakuza, so you can imagine the chaos they could cause (see John Wick and Kill Bill Vol.1). Adding a Hawaiian syndicate should make the battles grand and brutal (the title "Wrecking Crew" is for a reason, right?). Personally, I liked the film and recommend it for a movie night with friends.
For me this one is 7.5/10.
