My Mystery Romance

Synopsis:

"My Mystery Romance" (2026) is a rom-com with a touch of mystery directed by Maude van Ehrenkrook, available on Amazon Prime Video

The film tells the story of Cora, who tries to save her family's event business by hosting a mystery dinner. Her first attempt flops, but at the second try, she meets Liam, who helps her and sparks romance. As the game unfolds, things get messy with theft and nasty rumors. Cora must decide if she can trust Liam before everything falls apart.

This film stars: Charli St. Joan, Patrick Johnston, Heather Bayles, Lasure Jones and more.

In my opinion:

The opening's simple with a catchy song, and the camera work hinted at the film's quality 😅. I was slightly intrigued by the funny initial scene, thinking, "Yeah, I know this film's gonna be bad. But at least there's some good humor." So, I gave it a chance, ok!?

The story idea's actually unique and stands out. The concept of hosting a "Murder Mystery" game is pretty brilliant, especially if there's a twist with an actual murder or some scary event. Instead, the game just gets messy over a lost brooch and ring. 'Messy' is even too kind – I'd call it a joke.

What's the director trying to build? Mystery? Drama? Comedy? Out of nowhere, two characters fall in love (is it because the title has "Romance"?). And there's a scene supposed to be a twist, but it's meaningless 🙄If you look, the poster shows a character holding a gun, rope, knife, billiard cue, and magnifying glass. It's supposed to lead us something, right?

Well, I'd accept this if it was a school play or talent show drama. Hopefully, Mrs. Maude van Ehrenkrook learns more 😊.

For me this one is 3/10.
