Synopsis:
Panda Plan 2: The Magical Tribe
(2026), which is the sequel to Panda Plan (2024), is still starred by Jackie Chan playing a fictional version of himself. The story begins when Jackie and a
cute baby panda named Hu Hu are on their way to a panda conservation center. On
the way, they are hit by a “sky anomaly” and stray into a mysterious valley
that immediately closes off after they enter. There, they meet a primitive
tribe isolated from the outside world. Because Hu Hu’s appearance — with large
dark circles around his eyes — matches the tribe’s ancestral totem perfectly,
he is regarded as a “sacred creature” sent from the heavens. The problem is,
according to a prophecy on the tribe’s ancient stone slab, Hu Hu must be
escorted to Awe Peak — a mountain that is nearly impossible to climb — by the
“Messenger”. If they fail, disaster will befall the tribe. Jackie, whether he
likes it or not, is considered that Messenger. To protect Hu Hu, Jackie has to
deal with the eccentric tribe members, warrior Qiang Shan who often has
amnesia, and Prince Tu Lu who is still unstable. Jackie gets caught up in an
ancient conflict that will determine the fate of the tribe.
Jackie Chan remains the main
attraction. Even though he’s already elderly, the slapstick action +
interactions with the CGI panda Hu Hu still deliver funny moments. Critics said
the first film Panda Plan (2024) had already become “the lowest point of Jackie
Chan’s career”. However, this sequel is said to be “better than the first” and
managed to achieve decent success in China with earnings of US$37.3 million.
But this film is still only said to be average.
This film stars: Jackie Chen, Ma Li, Qiao Shan, Wang Yinglu and more.
In my opinion:
It’s sad to see our childhood
hero grow old — that’s Jackie Chan. What silly person doesn’t know Jackie Chan,
right? At his advanced age, he continues to create and entertain. Ideas always
flow in his head and turn into beautiful films like this. I admit this is one
of the best film he has ever acted in. From the beginning to near the end, I
kept laughing out loud — this is a truly original Chinese comedy film. Like
what Stephen Chow did in Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, the expressions and
silly lines really entertained me. Even the antagonist characters are made to
be like comedians.
This film is a complete package
of a comedy-drama accompanied by a heart-touching fantasy story. The idea of a
hidden village that forbids its people from showing weakness, mutual suspicion,
having to look strong and independent, and then a little panda named Hu hu is
sent by his ancestors to fix it — this is a brilliant story idea! No need to
think hard, when you watch this film, just lean back, prepare some snacks, and
enjoy this film full of laughter. Not just comedy, this film delivers very
touching advice. About how important it is to express love and affection so
that people understand that we care, so that people understand that everyone
definitely needs encouragement. This film really moved me.
China has become very great in
the film industry. Beautiful visuals, clear and crisp audio, very neat
cinematography — all of that is in this film. I wonder, is Jacky still doing all
these scenes himself? Because seeing his age now, it’s hard to believe he’s
still doing stunt scenes in this film. Yes, even though there aren’t many
action scenes, it’s still an extraordinary thing if Jackie Chan is still doing
them himself. This film is great, this film is beautiful, this film is
entertaining — a great work by a legend, Jackie Chan… Love for you from all
corners of the world. 大好!
For me this one is 8.5/10.
