Synopsis:

"People We Meet on Vacation" (2026), is a romantic comedy film released on January 9, 2026, on Netflix. The film is adapted from Emily Henry's bestseller novel of the same name and is directed by Brett Haley

The film tells the story of Poppy Wright (Emily Bader), a free-spirited travel writer, and Alex Nilsen (Tom Blyth), a literature lecturer who prefers staying at home. They meet in college, become best friends, and spend one week every summer together on vacation. However, after an incident in Italy, they decide to stop talking to each other.

Two years later, Poppy attends Alex's brother's wedding in Barcelona, and they have to face their true feelings

The film received positive reviews from critics, with praise for the chemistry between Emily Bader and Tom Blyth. They successfully brought the characters of Poppy and Alex to life and made the audience feel connected to them.

However, some critics also mentioned that the film has some weaknesses, such as a predictable plot and some underdeveloped supporting characters.

Overall, this is a fun and heartwarming romantic comedy film.

This film stars: Emily BaderTom BlythSarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil and more.

In my opinion:

I enjoyed the comedy. While watching the film, I smiled and chuckled several times at the character of Poppy Wright, who is cute and spontaneous. The film uses a flashback sequence, which helps us understand what happened between Poppy and Alex.

It's true what the critics said, that the plot is predictable. Nevertheless, the meaning of the film is great.

The film teaches that one of the main enemies of love is ego. No matter how strong the love we feel and maintain, if ego takes over, the love won't work.

My advice is, if you're sure, express what you feel so that love doesn't have to wait.

However, I want to inform you that there are LGBTQ elements in this film. So, I hope you handle it wisely.

For me this one is 8/10.
