"ToxiCity" is a drama
film directed by Felix Jordan Jr. that tells the story of Corey Spencer, an app
developer struggling to overcome his past trauma and balance his life after a
divorce. Corey tries to build a romance with Sierra, but things don't go as
smoothly as he planned.
This film stars: Zae Diggs, Kia Denis (Kitie Grant), Timmeria Baltimore, Iroko Anyogu and more.
Unfortunately, I haven't found any reviews from credible sources or critics. So, I'll share my subjective opinion after watching this film.
So.. In my opinion:
After previously getting two good drama films, I got another drama film on my desk. Aw man, just from the poster, I started to doubt. Then, why is it titled "ToxiCity"? My assumption was whether it's about a city full of crime or a problematic city, politically for example.
But I am sorry ladies and gentlemen, this is not that kind of film. I didn't get anything crucial from this film. What I watched was just about the profile and daily life. It's true that the main character has childhood trauma, but I felt it wasn't impactful enough in this film. It was just a relapse and didn't really affect the storyline.
As the film progressed, I tried
to understand it. Okay, some characters have somethings that are still vague
until the middle of the film. But if you're keen, you'll see that some characters
have secrets and hidden agendas. And sure enough, you'll find out at the end.
Plot twist? No darling, they're just not good people.
Well, I think this is a B-grade
film that's not too bad. The acting is fairly focused and not stiff. The
visuals and cinematography are okay, but the audio is just average. The film is
decent, but not worth watching on a big screen.
For me this one is 5.5/10.
